Saves use modified JSON lines: ["Key"]=value. This catalog matches recent builds; some older keys may differ. On every download we force BaseGame.IsIronmanMode off and set every key containing “Retrograde” to 0 (per community spec). Collection dates may need a text editor. Only fields you set are written. Keep backups.

Quick FAQ

Common questions about Suzerain’s text saves, what this editor rewrites, and using DLC-specific rows safely.

What file should I upload?: An active playthrough file from the game’s save folder (often named with “Active” in the filename), opened as plain text. The editor reads line-based key entries in the same style the game uses — upload the file the game would read from disk.
Some sections say “not in file” for every line.: Base game and expansion content use different key sets. If a DLC or late-game block never appeared in that save, those entries won’t exist until the game has written them. Edit only the sections you need; you can add new values for some lines when you set a value for a missing key (exact key matches only).
I changed a number but the game ignores it.: Close the game completely before replacing the file, keep Steam Cloud or similar sync in mind, and re-open a fresh play session. If the value still doesn’t stick, the field may be recomputed on load for that part of the game — try an earlier save or a smaller change, and always keep your backup copy.
Why is there no field for a relationship / opinion row I see in a guide?: The tool focuses on a curated set of safe, commonly edited rows. Niche or highly situational lines can be edited manually in a text editor. Keep backups: incorrect edits in unsupported lines can break a save.
